President Bola Tinubu has confirmed his intention to seek re-election in Nigeria’s 2027 presidential contest after accepting the nomination of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tinubu secured the party’s ticket for a second and final four-year term following a landslide victory over businessman Stanley Osifo, a relatively unknown contender, during the APC presidential primaries.
The exercise took place across Nigeria’s 8,809 wards in all 774 local government areas.
Announcing the results at the collation centre at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, Chairman of the APC Presidential Primaries Election Committee, Pius Anyim, said a total of 12,643,306 registered voters participated in the process, while 11,069,756 voters were accredited.
According to Anyim, 11,015,665 votes were cast after accreditation. Tinubu received 10,999,162 votes, while Osifo secured 16,503 votes.
