Clergyman warns against replacing God with Artificial Intelligence

Kaduna cleric Pastor Jeremiah Aluwong urges Christians to prioritise faith, prayer and God’s grace above technology, artificial intelligence and human achievements.

A Kaduna-based cleric has said that the teachings of Jesus Christ remain the strongest force for reconciliation and national unity in Nigeria, maintaining that technological advancement, psychology and human systems have limitations and cannot replace God.

The convener of LightWk Ministries Kaduna, Pastor Jeremiah Aluwong, stated this during a sermon in which he acknowledged science and technology as blessings, but warned against substituting spiritual devotion with artificial intelligence and modern innovations.

Pastor Aluwong criticised the growing dependence on technology in ministry, saying personal prayer, worship and the study of scripture cannot be replaced by machines or digital tools.

The pastor also urged believers to remain humble and avoid self-reliance, warning that human pride often leads to destruction.

Referring to the story of the Titanic, he said history has repeatedly shown the limitations of human confidence without God.

He further encouraged patience and trust in divine timing, cautioning against compromising values in pursuit of jobs, relationships or success.

Pastor Aluwong emphasised that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ was offered “once and for all”, unlike the repeated sacrifices under the old covenant, and provides eternal redemption for believers.

The cleric concluded by urging Christians to hold firmly to their faith and trust completely in God’s grace rather than in human strength or achievements.
