Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on young girls across the country to remain confident, creative and forward-thinking as they prepare to play a stronger role in Nigeria’s fast-growing digital economy.

She made the remarks during a dinner held in honour of winners of the third National Girls in ICT Competition, organised by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.

Commending the participants, the First Lady praised their determination, innovation and resilience, noting that they represent a new generation of Nigerian girls ready to excel in science and technology.

She revealed that more than 3,700 girls from all six geopolitical zones took part in the programme. The initiative featured competitions, training boot camps, mentorship opportunities and innovation-based challenges aimed at strengthening digital skills.

Senator Tinubu highlighted the impressive range of projects developed by the participants, particularly in agriculture, healthcare delivery and inclusive education.

According to her, the creativity displayed by the girls reflects the success of the programme in building not only technical ability but also leadership skills and problem-solving capacity.

She explained that the initiative supports the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which focuses on youth empowerment, digital inclusion, quality education, economic participation and human capital development.

The First Lady also expressed strong support for the introduction of Code Clubs, describing them as a strategic investment in developing future innovators, software engineers and technology leaders in Nigeria.

She noted that early exposure to coding and digital tools would help prepare young girls for future careers in technology and innovation-driven industries.
