Meta is introducing new accessibility-focused features for its AI-powered smart glasses, making the technology more intuitive and hands-free for people with disabilities around the world.

The company says the updates are designed to improve usability for people who are blind or partially sighted, as well as individuals with mobility impairments, allowing them to carry out everyday tasks more independently.

Meta also announced the launch of its Wearables Device Access Toolkit, a new platform providing developers with resources to build third-party applications for the company’s AI glasses.

According to Meta, the toolkit will help developers create apps that support people with disabilities in navigating daily life more easily.

As part of the initiative, Meta is hosting a cycling club event at its Meta Lab Store in New York City, where athletes with disabilities will test the company’s Oakley Meta Performance Glasses while riding bicycles.

The company noted that more than one billion people globally live with some form of disability and said its wearable AI technology is already helping many users in practical ways, from assisting blind users in understanding their surroundings to supporting military veterans experiencing memory loss.
